Compiere Professional Edition is for mid-sized and larger companies who want the very best functionality, usability and support from their Compiere ERP solution. Compiere Professional Edition includes Compiere's advanced interactive web architecture enabling a highly productive user experience from a web browser. Premium support offerings include unlimited support requests, a response time service level agreement and phone support. Compiere Professional Edition is distributed under a flexible commercial license that includes indemnification.
Compiere Standard Edition is for value-conscious companies who want a stable and full-featured Compiere ERP solution that is backed by quality support offerings, including access to Compiere Technical support services, automated upgrade tools and Service Pack releases. Access Compiere Standard Edition through a platform-independent Java client. Compiere Standard Edition is distributed under a GPL open source license.
Compiere Community Edition is for ERP and Java developers who want to take advantage of Compiere's adaptable open source ERP software. Compiere Community Edition binary and source code are freely distributed. The Community Edition does not include automated upgrade tools or support from Compiere, Inc. or Compiere Authorized Partners. Access to Compiere Support
Customers with a Compiere Support Subscription have access to trained personnel for resolving Support Requests. The Standard Edition includes a fixed number of support requests based on the number of users in your subscription. The Professional Edition includes an unlimited number of support requests.
Premium Service Levels
Compiere strives to provide timely responses to all customer service requests. Support requests from Professional Edition customers are subject to a response time service level agreement.
Phone Support
Phone support is reserved for Professional Edition customers and is currently available during business hours in the United States.
Software Maintenance & Updates
Application Source Code
Binary software and application source code for each Compiere edition is available for download.
Service Packs
Compiere periodically produces Service Packs that include cumulative bug fixes on top of the latest available stable release. Service Packs go through a full regression test before release. Service Packs are included with Standard Edition and Professional Edition subscriptions.
Latest Fixes
At its discretion, Compiere may provide "latest fixes" to specific significant issues identified by Professional Edition customers.
Access to Automated Upgrade Tools
Customers with a Compiere Support Subscription have access to the Migration Management solution, enabling version upgrades to new Compiere ERP software releases.
Standard Edition includes a license for Migration Management for two servers, typically a production and a test system. Professional Edition includes a license for Migration Management for three servers, typically a production, test and development system.
License Type and Indemnification
Open Source License (GPL)
Compiere Community Edition and Compiere Standard Edition are distributed under the terms of the Gnu General Public License (GPL) Version 2. Open source licensing provides a unique opportunity for the open source community and for those developing open source software. You should be aware, however, that the GPL is quite restrictive. For example, the GPL license stipulates that any extensions added to the base GPL product also become subject to the terms of the GPL - which include not being able to restrict the use, copying, modification or redistribution of that software
Commercial License
Compiere Professional Edition is distributed under a Commercial License for customers who are unable to abide by the terms of the GPL license. A commercial license offers many customers a degree of flexibility not provided by the GPL.

Database Choices
Postgres Plus Advanced Server

Oracle XE, Standard and Enterprise Editions
As an optional fee-based service, Compiere offers an application-specific full use license for Oracle Standard Edition One, Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition.
